Welcome

Hi, I'm Ziad Makkawi.

I'm a junior Software Engineer passionate about AI and backend development, with a strong focus on building scalable systems and automating workflows.

Last summer, I interned with the NHS where I helped improve the accuracy of a simulation tool that models emergency department patient flow, and created GDPR-compliant GitHub practices adopted by the team. It was an exciting experience combining tech and healthcare impact.

This time, I've been working on multiple new projects (coming soon 👀), exploring startup ideas, and of course upskilling my technical expertise through Boot.dev — an immersive backend development curriculum. I’m actively progressing through over 20 courses and guided projects spanning Python, Go, SQL, HTTP servers, Docker, functional programming, AI-agent building, and more, all while maintaining a rigorous LeetCode practice. like it's a full-time job. (Not enjoying it emoji .)

Feel free to explore my work and experience. You can also check out my CV for more details.
